Das am 10.2.2025 von der Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc veröffentlichte »Classement 2025« umfasst insgesamt 170 Châteaux, die sich wie im Jahr 2020 auf die drei Rangstufen »Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel« (CBE), »Cru Bourgeois Supérieur« (CBS) und »Cru Bourgeois« (CB) verteilen.
Im Vergleich zur Klassifikation 2020 fällt sofort die beträchtliche Differenz von 80 Châteaux auf, die darauf zurückzuführen ist, dass 83 Châteaux der Klassifikation 2020 nicht mehr vertreten und drei Châteaux neu hinzugekommen sind (s.u.). Dies ist einer der größten Unterschiede in der Geschichte der Cru-Bourgeois-Klassifizierungen, wenn man von dem Unterschied zwischen den Klassifizierungen von 1932 und 2003 absieht.
Die Gründe für die geringere Anzahl der in der Klassifikation von 2025 vertretenen Châteaux sind vielfältig, z.T. ist man dabei auf Mutmassungen angewiesen:
- Viele der nicht mehr vertretenen Châteaux dürften sich aus freien Stücken und aus unterschiedlichen Gründen zurückgezogen haben, da sie einerseits dem System der Crus Bourgeois kritisch gegenüberstehen. Zum anderen mögen die Kosten der Mitgliedschaft angesichts der problematischen wirtschaftlichen Situation vieler, vor allem weniger bekannter Bordeaux-Winzer eine Rolle gespielt haben.
- Auch die höheren Anforderungen, insbesondere bei den Umweltvorgaben, dürften eine Rolle gespielt haben. Die Cru Bourgeois-Güter mussten mindestens über eine Umweltzertifizierung der Stufe 2 verfügen (z. B. AREA, Bee Friendly, TerraVitis), während die Supérieur- und Exceptionnel-Weingüter über eine HVE-Zertifizierung (Haute Valeur Environnementale) der Stufen 2 und 3 verfügen mussten.
Unabhängig von den jeweiligen Gründen bleibt festzustellen, dass es in der Geschichte der Crus-Bourgeois-Klassifikationen vor allem die Spitzen-Châteaux waren, die sich überproportional häufig aus den jeweiligen Klassifikationen zurückgezogen haben.
Dies war der Fall beim Wechsel von der Klassifikation von 2003 auf die »Sélection Officiel von 2008«, als sich neun Châteaux im Rang eines »Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel« (Ch. Potensac, Ch. Haut-Marbuzet, Ch. Les Ormes de Pez, Ch. de Pez, Ch. Phélan Ségur, Ch. Chasse Spleen, Ch. Poujeaux, Ch. Siran und Ch. Labégorce-Zédé – heute Ch. Labégorce) vom Auswahlverfahren der »Sélection« distanzierten und ihre Bewerbungen erst gar nicht mehr einreichten.
Auch beim Übergang von 2020 zur Klassifikation von 2025 fällt auf, dass mehr als die Hälfte (57 %) der ehemaligen »Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnel« nicht mehr vertreten ist (s.u.).
